Some people call me doctor. Friends and acquaintances call me Emily. I am the wife of a wonderful man, and we share two kids that call me mom. I love all of these titles. They each have a very significant part to play in my life. They shape who I am. I grew up in the country. What can I say- things were just slower (and better) back then. In mama’s kitchen is where I spent my free time (and mama sure could cook!). I have always enjoyed the “basics”. Cooking, cleaning, gardening, natural health and practical homesteading are what I took an interest in from an early age. I moved from the North Carolina mountains to the sunny beaches of Florida. While I absolutely love the beach, I also miss having the accessibility to an array of artisan foods and products at my beckon call. So this country girl brought the country with her to the city. And so begins this blog- where I hope to share with you some of the things that I have learned along the way. I hope to use all of these roles to create a blog that provides practical homesteading you can use in your life just as I have in mine.
